I’ll try to keep this post up to date as the space develops..
BuzzMetrics | a start up bought by metrics specialist Nielsen (so now known as Nielsen BuzzMetrics). Primarily tracks blog content and does this very nicely.
Cymfony | another specialist bought by an industry behemoth (in this case Taylor Nelson just bought Cymfony)…
MotiveQuest|
Factiva | more traditional content monitoring (whereas the others are more focused on consumer generated content)
Biz360 | tracks sentiment in the blogosphere attributing stories to positive or negative camps. Good PR tool..
Umbria | not checked this out yet…
Brandimensions | buzz monitoring in verticals of pharma, cars and entertainment…
BzzAgent| not so much a research programme as a word of mouth programme…consumers sign up to BzzAgent and are then encouraged to spread the word about products. It rather subverts the social media model I think but I guess basic human behaviour would ensure that generally people would only promote products that they liked, so in effect it’s a paid sampling and product launch type activity..
