It’s horses for courses really…
Nebu: we use Nebu’s DubInterviewer as our main survey scripting software. It’s now quite a mature product (development started over 10 years ago) and so it has a lot of neat functionality. This can be daunting initially but once you get your head around it all it’s very welcome. Overall it’s very capable and a lot better value cost wise than Confirmit (for example) probably as it’s privately owned by two very decent blokes rather than being driven by ravening venture capitalists (with a painful ‘per interview’ pricing model).
Importantly you can also script in it very quickly which is crucial when you’re doing a lot of surveys every week. That said it’s use of (pretty) templates and survey libraries could do with an overhaul and your access to the databases is a little limiting unless you host it yourself (which you can but that’s a bit complex for the smaller companies, though larger companies like SSI or mid tier ones like Maven, do this very successfully).
We also use Nebu’s DubKnowledge panel software. This makes it extremely easy to pull quite complex samples and to perform common panel management tasks.
